Summary:
If you could steal things from dreams, what would you take?

Ronan Lynch has secrets. Some he keeps from others. Some he keeps from himself.

One secret: Ronan can bring things out of his dreams.

And sometimes he's not the only one who wants those things.

Ronan is one of the raven boys—a group of friends, practically brothers, searching for a dead king named Glendower, who they think is hidden somewhere in the hills by their elite private school, Aglionby Academy. The path to Glendower has long lived as an undercurrent beneath town. But now, like Ronan's secrets, it is beginning to rise to the surface—changing everything in its wake.

This is the second book in the series. You can see my review of THE RAVEN BOYS!

Holy shit. That book was perfect. One thing I will give Maggie is that she does not suffer from Second Book Syndrome. This one was better than The Raven Boys and I loved that one.

Ronan Lynch is one of those characters that could have been butchered and destroyed in any other author's hands, but Maggie gets Ronan and his story is absolutely compelling. I loved the way this was written and I loved seeing Ronan come alive on the page. Because Maggie's story was so real and so imaginative that I actually felt as though I was in the story following along with all the Raven Boys.

I was so frustrated with Adam in the last one and for some aspects of this one, but I get it. I get why he wants to be so independent that he won't ask anyone for help or try to rely on anyone for anything. And I almost love him for it. But at the same time, gah!! Just ask for help!! But I think that is me being introspective and taking out the anger I have toward myself on Adam for doing the same thing I would in a similar situation.

I love that the romance is there but at the same time isn't there. I believe Maggie talked about how she is writing two love stories in similar fashion and I just... I can't even with how beautiful this story is. I loved all the different twists and turns along the way and I read this in one sitting (two hours) because I was so enthralled with the story and learning Ronan's story.

I loved Mr. Gray and his part to play in the story. It was nice to see how everything ended up being intertwined and connected. I thought he was a good character with interesting motives and I am excited to see what is to come of him.

One of the things I didn't like was the constant changing of povs because I felt like I never got the full story from one perspective and had to piece together the story on limited information. It works in some instances and I do think it had its merit here, but it was still a little much for me.

Overall: 4/5 stars. This might actually be my favourite sequel to any novel ever. Where The Raven Boys set the groundwork for the novels, The Dream Thieves took the opportunity to further delve into the complexities of each character and give a solid basis for the overarching plot of the series.
