This review covers Chapters 54-69 (Volumes 5 and 6) in the Dragon Ball series.
The Red Ribbon Army saga follows Goku's search for his treasured Four-Star Dragon Ball (which he believes contains his deceased Grandpa Gohan's spirit) after the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament. However, as he tracks it down, Goku soon comes across an evil military organization, the Red Ribbon Army. The saga covers Goku's first two battles with Colonel Silver and General White before continuing into the General Blue Saga.
The antagonists seem more realistic and it is always good to see the "little guy" beat up the "big guy". Although we all know that Goku is definitely much stronger than anyone that he has come across so far. I liked Android 8 and that he seemed to have more morals than the humans that Goku came across. However, the Red Ribbon Army seems to have come out of nowhere with no real backstory, but there could always be more of an explanation later on.
The first part of this saga lacked some of the excitement of the first two sagas, but once the story got into the swing of things again, it really picked up.
Overall: 4/5 for this saga. I loved having Bulma back (favourite character for the win!) and it was nice to see the geography of the land expand as well as the antagonists become more realistic as the characters grow and expand.
